the dynacord vrs23 vertical reverberation system is a fully analogue device. it is capable of producing reverb or delay effects.

the vrs23 is a mono-in/stereo-out unit and offers dry, mixed and effect outputs simultaneously. the coarse delay/reverb time is switchable in four ranges (50, 100, 200 and 400 ms) and can be fine-adjusted with the 'delay' knob. an internal lfo with variable frequency and depth can be used to modulate the delay time for chorus effects. feedback is adjustable via a knob, but self-oscillation is not possible. another knob called 'tone' emphasizes the higher frequencies for those sizzling reverbs. last but not least a footswitch can be used to bypass the chosen effect.

nowadays digital reverberators are the common standard and the vrs23 surely cannot compete with them, when long reverb times are needed, but the vrs23 is still a very nice piece of equipment and rewarding to use. unlike bbd-based analogue delay/reverb units it offers full frequency response of 20hz to 20khz, no matter how long the chosen delay/reverb time may be. it also doesn't sound like a bathtub with short reverb times. the overall sound is warm and organic.
