moogerfooger mf-102 ring modulator

the moogerfooger ring modulator offers the functions of a voltage controlled (sine-wave) oscillator to be used as one of the input signals, a voltage controlled low frequency oscillator with either sine or square wave shape for frequency modulation of the internal v.c.o. and finally a ring modulator circuit.

the rear panel offers lots of jack sockets for audio and control signals - in addition to the usual signal inputs and outputs, the output of the internal oscillators both can be accessed to be used as audio or modulation sources and the internal vco signal can be replaced by another signal of your choice for still more complex timbres from the ring modulation. and there are four input jacks for control voltages, so the unit can be connected to any foot pedal or other controller - for instance other moogerfoogers or any synth or even modular synth gear with cv interfacing...

the moog ring modulator is very rewarding to work with, firstly it 'feels' extremely well because of the beautiful control knobs and switches, but more importantly the sound is absolutely impressive. it provides a very warm and rich ringmod effect, while producing very little noise or unwanted crosstalk and at the same time being easy to apply and fine tune to the desired amount.

we use it on drums or percussion, an obvious application, but also on vocals and ambient sounds for 'weirding' and to give them a new and unpredictably changing character.
